Obedience is very important to God. He even values it a lot more than sacrifices. We see this in the book of 1 Samuel where Saul went to the battlefield and after conquering his enemies, the Amalekites, he took the animals in the land along with him despite God's instruction to him to destroy everything; their sheep, oxen, bullocks and every livestock.
Saul's defense was that he wanted to sacrifice the animals to God. We cannot bend God's commandments. If we say we should not do a thing then we shouldn't come up with any reason why we should do it.
God commanded Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of knowledge and good, but because Eve felt that if she does she will be wise like God just as the devil had told her, she thought it good at that time to eat the fruit.
God's commandments is not something that we filter. Our obedience is not complete until we obey every single instructions that the Lord has commanded us. It has to be absolute.
