God looks at our sincerity of heart. Nothing is more important when it comes to desiring Him.
Life would always provide is with one form of distraction or the other coming from all corners. But this should not stop us from seeking Him. Instead of choosing to give in to these distractions it is the perfect time to seek God the most. It was when Job was faced with afflictions that he sought after God the most.
But this does not mean that we must wait for the times of unfortunate circumstances before we seek God.
Jeremiah 29:13 KJV
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
If we are seeking God but not with all our hearts then we haven't started yet. God is willing to reveal Himself to those who seek Him but it has to be done with all our heart. The state of the heart matters a lot when seeking God.
