Originally,the first man and woman that God created was given a commandment which can be found in
Genesis 2:16
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Bro Eli taught that aside from the fruits and leaves of the tree , sometimes the barks of the tree are useful to man too
further into the bible chapter
Genesis 2:17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
it implies that adam has a free choice he may decide to obey or disobey God's commandment ,the first man and woman has the choice to either obey or disobey God's word
every of God's word has a warning,the warning shows that God loves and cares for us ,he does not want us to be lost or dead
The warning in genesis 2:17
shows us the love and loving kindness of God,the death there implies that if we go against God's will we are going to face the penalty of our actions and our consequences
