Hearing simply means the act of sound entering the ears, but listening means accepting the word, believing it, and doing what it says. There are people even if they hear the word of God, but to listen to it will be hard.
In our generation, people have turned themselves into idols, by not listening to God's teachings and commandments. They sit in church hearing the word of God but cannot practice them or obey God's commandments. They make themselves to be like idols which have ear but could not hear. Their ears and minds have been spiritually blocked by the devil and all they do is to go against the ordinances and teachings of Christ.
As christians, let's not be hearers alone, but also doers of the word. We should not give the devil permission to block our ears and minds against God's word.
