As humans, we do not have the power of our own to refrain from evil because we are helpless. The temptations of the devil are powerful and he is taking advantage of the human weakness.
Sometimes, we see that no matter how hard we try to stop doing evil, we keep falling back to the evil things we vowed not to do. Every man is tempted when he is drawn by lust, we only need the help of the holy spirit to overcome those temptations. Jeremiah 10:23 made us to understand that the way of a man is not in himself, it is not the man that walketh to direct his steps. We on our own can't live a righteous life, that's why we should always pray for God to direct our paths.
As christians, let us always pray and ask the holy spirit to always help us to refrain from evil doing because on our own, we will keep falling for temptations. May the Lord always direct our paths towards the way of righteous life amen.
