Understanding discipleship teaching.
This video has given a deeper understanding of what it really means to be a follower of Christ. Many people think that the 10 disciples only refers to those 12 apostles.
Brother Eli explain to us that all apostles are disciples, not all disciples are apostles. So disciples are anyone who follows the teaching of Jesus Christ. Not just in words, but they are also doing it in their daily living. What stands out most is the emphasis on obedience.
In Luke 6 vs 6, Brother Eli made emphasis on when Jesus asked, why call ye me Lord, and do not do the things which I say?
This verse reminds us that merely calling Jesus is not enough.
Our action must prove our faith through discipleship, through doing the commandments of Christ. Living a righteous life. By preaching the word and practicing the doctrine.
Timothy as a modern disciple who lived according to the teaching of God. He learned from the apostle Paul and was patient and endured. This shows that being a disciple of Christ continues to learn. Must practice and must persevere.
In essence, a disciple is not defined by the title of position, but living a life of obedience. Being faithful and being committed to the word of Christ.
