Domestic Violence | The Old Path
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. - John 10:10
The thief above is liken to the life and work of satan. It is the motive of satan for people to hate one another; and by doing so, we go against the perfect plan of God for our lives.
Bro. Eli referenced to the Bible to buttress the point according to the Bible that the teaching of God is for a man to love his wife like himself as seen in
Ephesians 5:28 –
> So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
The question that came to my mind is - if you love yourself, will If you love to harm yourself? Certainly not! Why then do we yield to the lies of the devil. If we don't like having pains, why then are we giving our spouse pains? This is the whole essence of the teaching -
> We must be the treatment of a man to a woman or to his wife, according to God.
Additionally, Bro Eli asked a similar question that I pondered - what causes a man, after 10 years of marriage, to raise his hand to beat his wife, and sometimes to the extent of killing his wife? If I'm to add, this is a love that had no challenge or hatred for each other.
This is nothing but the work of Satan. Anything evil is originated from the devil and the Bible makes it clear in the book of James 3:15-16.
> This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
The scripture literally explains that every confusion and evil work comes from satan. Finally, Bro. Eli added another crucial Bible verse - Ephesians 2:2.
> Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Let us intentionally resist the devil at all times and it will flee.
