Regaining the love of parents (Part 1 of 2) | The Old Path | MCGI
In life, no matter how we are loved by people around us—be they friends, church members, schoolmates, etc.—family stands to be an irreplaceable unit where love is seen to be expressed unconditionally. They are the ones who stand by you in your strength or weakness. As a part of the family, the love of the parents helps build communication amongst siblings and other family members, which is why it is important we maintain or regain the love we have for them. In this first episode of “Regaining the love of parents,” Bro Eli shares how our manner of life, behavior, and character can win the heart of a person. According to the Bible, Matthew 7:9-11
You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.
The scriptures show that even sinful people know how to express love to children, so what then happens to Christian homes where parents do not show love to their children even if they are disrespectful or even if they have problems, whether it be mental or whatever problem? Looking at the book of Matthew 5:45—
that ye may be the children of your father which is in heaven for he maketh his son to rise on the evil and on the good and sendeth Reign on the just and on the unjust.
From this scripture, God’s love is boundless. He loves both the good and the evil people on Earth; that's why He sends sun to shine on every creature. Similarly, as God’s people we need to replicate this character by loving our parents or children even though we see them to be evil. Finally, the book of Luke 6 verse 35 summarizes:
but love ye your enemies and do good and lend hoping for nothing again and your reward shall be great and ye shall be the children of the highest for he is kind unto thee unthankful and to the evil.
