God can determine a man's fate but it all depends on the choice made by man.
Jeremiah 10:23 O Lord , I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
God being the creator of a man, gave man ability to choose what they want, but at the same time, God want to be in control of a man's life. But He doesn't impose or force things on man using his power.
One of the attributes of God is that He is Omnipotent, He knows the end from the beginning. Our God is Love and He is full of love.

The choice a man make is the determinant factor of God's involvement in a man's life or fate. God control man's fate if and only if man submit and surrender himself to God and viceversa.
