My comment as regard the question asked:
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Some believed they are greater than Jesus Christ, Most pastors believed they are greater than Jesus Chris because of how God is using them.
But one have to understand the truth in the Bible. He only preach the gospel for three years while the Apostle Paul preached for many years and have done great things than Jesus, the time element is what Jesus used.
The faith of the thief was sufficient for him to inherit Paradise because the situation you have to consider that time element but given another day or month I am sure the thief will do good work he did.
2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Good work you are doing should not be filthy in the eyes of the God:
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
If you can do good works, it is because GOD is in us:
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Shalom!
