A lot of people hear God’s words every day through preaching, Bible reading, or even conversations but the truth is, not everyone truly listens. This topic made me realize that there’s a big difference between hearing and listening. Hearing is passive, but listening takes effort. You can go to church or read the Bible every day and still miss what God is really trying to tell you if your heart isn’t open or you're distracted.
The message from MCGI really pointed out that when we truly listen to God’s words, it should reflect in our actions.
James 1:22 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
That verse hit hard. It means it’s not enough to hear what God says we have to live it out. Even the Pharisees heard the scriptures all the time, but their pride and closed hearts made them miss the truth.
These days, life is full of distractions, and it’s easy to let God’s words go in one ear and out the other. This message reminded me that we need to take God’s word seriously, reflect on it, and apply
Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
But that hearing has to be meaningful. This teaching really made me stop and think: am I just hearing God’s word, or am I actually listening and allowing it to change me?
