These are my thoughts on the final series of this question. Brother Eli mentioned that, doing good works is a sure way to earn you salvation especially for those who don’t believe or have faith, their good works are what would save them from destruction. Romans 2:13-15 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey(A) the law who will be declared righteous. 14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law,(B) they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.
In the above verse Apostle Paul talks about the people who have no faith, but obey, they would be called righteous. Matthew 25:34-37 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom(A) prepared for you since the creation of the world.(B) 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,(C) 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me,(D) I was sick and you looked after me,(E) I was in prison and you came to visit me.’(F)
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
It is the good works that can earn you the name righteous according to the above verse, what are the good works? you might ask, they are feeding someone when he is hungry, giving water to those who are thirsty, clothing those that are naked, taking strangers in and giving them shelter, those are all goodworks.
What did our Lord Jesus say about those who do not do goodworks? Let’s read from Matthew 25:41-45 Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
In conclusion, it is essential to back our faith up with goodworks so we can earn a place in the sight of God. Thanks for reading through.
