The bible never said we should avoid our ancestors, but we should learn from their mistakes most especially those who refused to serve God while they are on earth. We should not be like them. In the Old Testament, many people followed the traditions of their ancestors, but the prophets often warned that not every tradition is correct or pleasing to God.
Jeremiah 9:14, it is written that some people “walked after the stubbornness of their hearts and followed the Baals, as their fathers taught them.”
The bible teaches us that we should serve God with our mind not our ancestors. The scripture tells us that, each individual is accountable for their own actions before God.
This means that we should not blindly follow the beliefs or practices of our ancestors without examining whether they align with God’s commandments and teachings in the Bible.
