What is man that thou hath mindful of him?
Hebrews 2:6-9
[6]But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
[7]Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
[8]Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
[9]But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
"A little lower than the angel" means that men are created in a way that they suffer pain, and that they are mortal. Angel are spirits who do not die.
Luke 10:36 explains how we will be like angels at the resurrection of the righteous. Men will be like angels, man will be immortal. This doesn't mean that angels are more important or high in value before God than man.
Verse 7 of oupr text shows that man is crown with glory and honour than the Angels.
Let us read:
1 Corinthians 6:2-3
[2]Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
[3]Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
The Bible tells us that the saint shall judge the world. This is a role that will not be given to angels. Not only that, righteous men will also judge the angels as a superior being to them.
Another reason why men are seen as little lower than the angel is that; Angels are great in strength and power. Let us read
2 Peter 2:11
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
The reason God made them to e stronger is that
They are to serve as ministers to righteous men. They are to serve as guards for God's children and therefore they must possess extral power.
