A lot of people take Holy Week as a special time to think about what Jesus went through His suffering, death, and resurrection. During this week, they remember events like Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. All of these moments are real and found in the Bible. But Jesus and His apostles never told us to celebrate them in one specific week. Over time, churches added these traditions to help people remember, but that doesn’t mean God commanded us to do it.
Matthew 15:9 “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
In the Members Church of God International (MCGI), also called "The Old Path," the focus is not just on one week, but on honoring Jesus every single day. They believe that what matters most is living by His teachings daily, not just during special seasons. While Holy Week talks about true and important things from the Bible, MCGI sees the yearly celebration as a tradition made by people not something the Bible tells Christians to do.
Colossians 3:17 “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”
