There are many times in my life that I have felt doubts and anxiety. Sometimes, I wonder about my future, my family, my work, my faith! Sometimes fear creeps into my heart and makes me weak or confused. But I have discovered that the process of conquering doubts and fears starts by simply choosing to trust God even if it's not obvious to me. I remind myself of God's understanding of my fears and His presence when I am alone.
One thing that helps me overcome doubt is prayer. If my heart is burdened, I can speak directly to God. I'm not a man of flesh and blood. I give Him my troubles, my fears and my pain. The scripture below tells us in Philippians 4:6-7 to be not anxious about anything, but in all things by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, to present your requests to God. This verse reminded me of the fact that I should not bear my burden alone, but put it all into prayer. I feel a peace gradually coming into my heart when I pray.
I also deal with doubts through clinging to God's promises in the bible. I sometimes think I'm afraid of what tomorrow may bring but I recall what God said in Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you.” When things are tough, this scripture brings me comfort because I know that God is always with me. I don't know what is going to happen next, but God does.
One of my other things I try to do on a daily basis is to trust God gradually, day by day. I remind myself that I don't have to worry, but that I have to have faith—faith that will give me strength. 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast your cares on Him for He cares for you.” The love and safety I feel in her presence is my favorite aspect of her. I think that we have to deal with our doubts and anxieties when we can trust God, pray sincerely, and we have to remember that He does care about us.
