Greetings everyone, and welcome to my blog. It is another wonderful opportunity to listen to the word of God through His servant, Bro. Eli Soriano.
The pleasure that comes from sin often leads people into addiction because human beings naturally desire to satisfy the desires of the flesh. However, the flesh is in constant opposition to the spirit. When people continue to follow the cravings of the flesh, they may eventually become addicted to harmful things such as drugs, alcohol, and other destructive habits.
It is not surprising that Bro. Eli mentioned that many people around the world turn to drugs and alcohol in order to satisfy themselves. According to him, there are now substances that can destroy a person’s life in less than twenty-four hours. These dangerous substances can quickly take control of a person and lead them down a destructive path.
He also explained that once people begin taking drugs, they often look for something even stronger the next time they use them. Some individuals become so deeply affected that they lose their sense of humanity. Bro. Eli even mentioned cases where people behaved in extremely disturbing ways because of the influence of drugs.
Furthermore, Bro. Eli shared a personal experience from his own life. He said that he once nearly became addicted to cigarettes. However, when he realized through the word of God that such habits were not pleasing to Him, he decided to stop. This happened even before he joined the Church of God, showing how the teachings of God can guide a person to change their life for the better.
Bro. Eli also referred to the book of Hebrews 11:24–25, which speaks about Moses. When Moses became an adult, he refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Instead, he chose to suffer together with the people of God rather than enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin.
From this biblical example, we can learn that Moses denied himself the temporary enjoyment that sin offers and chose the path that was pleasing to God, even though it involved hardship.
In conclusion, a person must learn to deny the desires of the flesh in order to avoid addiction and live according to the Spirit of God. Self-discipline and obedience to God’s teachings help individuals overcome harmful habits and live a life that is free from bondage.
