Greetings everyone, and welcome to my blog. It is another wonderful opportunity to listen to the word of God through His servant, Bro. Eli Soriano.
Jesus Christ told His apostles that the temple known as the house of prayer would one day be completely destroyed. This statement was given as a prophecy, warning them ahead of time about what would happen in the future.
According to history, this prophecy was fulfilled less than forty years later. In 70 A.D., during the Siege of Jerusalem, the Roman army destroyed the temple in Jerusalem. This event confirms the words spoken earlier, showing that what was foretold truly came to pass.
In the book of Gospel of Matthew, chapter 24 verses 1–2, it is recorded that Jesus left the temple, and His disciples came to show Him its buildings. He responded by telling them that not a single stone would remain on another—all would be torn down. His use of the word “verily” (translated from the Greek “Amen”) emphasizes certainty and truth, meaning His statement was firm and assured.
This passage clearly points to His prediction of the temple’s destruction, which served as the central place of prayer at that time.
Why is there no longer a house of prayer in Jerusalem?
Physically, the temple no longer exists because it was destroyed in 70 A.D. What remains today is a section of the structure known as the Western Wall (also called the Wailing Wall), where followers of Judaism go to pray.
Although the original temple is gone, other structures have since been built in the area. Both historical records and biblical writings confirm that the house of prayer was destroyed, just as it had been foretold.
