Today I watched a video by Brother Eli again, which made me rethink many of my long-held beliefs about relationships. The main theme of the video was a traditional question— "How do we know that our partner is meant for us?" In this day and age, when we are all more or less confused about relationships, Brother Eli's answer was very profound and spiritual.
He gave a wonderful explanation of Proverbs 19:14 in the Bible. He said that we may inherit a house or wealth from our father, but a "prudent" wife or husband comes into life only as a blessing from God. What I liked most about the video is the perspective of equality. He clearly states that this rule applies not only to men, but also to women. That is, a prudent man is also a gift from God to a woman.
Now the question is, what is this 'prudence' or 'discretion'? Brother Eli has explained very well that this discretion does not mean worldly cleverness or worldly knowledge. Referring to 1 Corinthians 1:19, he explained that worldly knowledge is often trivial. Real discretion is that wisdom that comes from the Creator. It is a spiritual quality.
In the last part of the video, he gave a very practical advice. He said, instead of blindly believing, check whether this discretion or wisdom is present in your partner. If it seems that that person does not have the right understanding, then it is better not to rush and wait. Because there is no shortage of people in the world.
Finally, Brother Eli's words give me great peace of mind - love comes from the most unexpected places and at the most unexpected times in life. So it is wiser to wait for the right time and trust in God than to be with the wrong person. This video can be a guideline for those who are struggling with relationships.
