We see so much every day in the vast storehouse of YouTube. In the crowd of entertainment, news, or blogs, sometimes some content comes before our eyes that completely shakes our world of thought. Today, after watching this video from the "The Old Path" channel, I had exactly that feeling. The title of the video was "Why do people die?" or why do people die. At first, I thought there might be some scientific or general philosophical explanation, but after listening to Brother Eli Soriano's words, I was faced with a constant truth of life.
What moved me the most in the video was a profound truth about the inevitability of death. We modern people often want to avoid death, as if it were not a part of our lives. But this video clearly reminds us that death is not an accident; it is destined for us. If we examine the history of our human civilization, we can see that no matter how much people have tried to become immortal, at the end of the day, everyone has to return to the lap of the earth. The video quotes the Bible as saying, “It is appointed for man once to die, and after that comes judgment. Hearing this, the noise around me seemed to stop for a moment. It seemed to me, where is the final destination of all our daily pursuits of career, wealth, and power?
Brother Eli Soriano explained in a very calm but firm voice that just as our birth was not in our hands, death is also not in our control. It is an appointment or a fixed time that there is no way to avoid. However, the issue that is bigger than fear is responsibility. The judgment that is spoken of after death gives us the message that there is an account for every deed we do.[1] We cannot do whatever we want in this world. We often forget this truth hidden behind human civilization—we are not here permanently, but rather we are like examinees sitting in an examination hall.
I sat there for a long time after the video ended, bowled over. This is not only a non-secular dialogue, but also a possibility to talk with our sense of right and wrong. We suppose we're free; however,r in fact, we're subject to a cosmic regulation. When we accept this inescapable fact of demise, our attitude toward life is sure to change. Then we no longer feel the desire to argue or be boastful about trivial matters.
In my opinion, this video is a must-watch for anybody who's trying to find the meaning of life or has ever questioned "Why are we here and where are we going?" It will make you watch again, and perhaps trade the direction of your existence. More vital than the score is its effect; after looking at it, you'll in no way be the same, I can assure you.
