Thanks be to God and mcgi for another wonderful explorative teachings at the mass indoctrination day 6
Important points I learnt from God's word discussed.
Sin can be forgiven especially if the one who sins confesses it. Sin should be confessed firstly to God.
James 6:16 talks about asking for forgiveness not only for ourselves but to people who we sin against.
God knows what our requests are. We should not use vain repetition in prayers.
Luke 4:26 talks about the fact that Elijah the prophet was sent to only one widow in the land. God already knows what's in our heart before we pray. Daniel faced the temple in Jerusalem when he prayed. Daniel faced Jerusalem while praying because that was where the temple of God was. God can change a person. If you pray without ill feelings God will answer. God is delighted to hear our prayers.
God has a household in heaven and on Earth. The household on earth is the church.
Acts 17:24 talks about the fact that God doesn't dwell in the temples made by hands.
The house built by Solomon was called a house of prayer. The church is the house of God. The church is a congregation of prayerful people. The church should also be seen as a house of prayer and the prayer shouldn't be repetitive. God listens to the prayers if those in the house of God.
The prayer of a righteous man is heard by God. We should find the right way to pray. There's a discipline to prayer.
God loves man and there's no problem bigger than God.
The following were my old beliefs or expectations that were improved by listening.
- I believed that you shouldn't confess your sin to anyone.
- I believe that some people can't be forgiven .
