In a world that is filled with anxiety, chaos, and confusion, we have been given a timeless blueprint of how to be victorious at every point in time. The bible is the written word of God to man in order to guide us to Him.
As christians we ought to pray always, but the big question remains what is the proper way to pray? Brother Eli Soriano has broken it down for us to get a clearer understanding of how to properly pray.
In Philippians 4:6 we were given the pattern for prayer because it tells us to not be anxious about anything, but with thanksgiving, we should always lay our requests before God. This is a call if total dependence on God and not in our human wisdom and abilities.
Bear in mind that Apostle Paul was in Prison when he was inspired to write this message to the church. In that point in time he had every reason to be worried and uncertain but he still commends us not to let anxiety rule our hearts.
Jesus Christ promised Peace, Joy and Rest to everyone that truly believes in him and this is why you shouldn't be mentally distorted or worried when you come to pray because you know that God is bigger than your present situation.
The truth is that as humans, the situation we sometime find ourselves in might be overwhelming. As Christians our first reponse should not be fear or uncertainty but total trust and dependence on God and this is where faith in God comes in.
Hebrews 11:6 talks about how it is impossible to please God without faith. Many people do not even believe in the existence of God and so they do not even come to him for healing. But I am a big testimony of the power of God and my wish is to do His will everyday.
And from my experience with God, I can confidently tell you that he truly rewards those that trust him and diligently seek him. This is exactly what is required from us when we pray and James 1:6 affirms that we must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind and should not think he can recive anything from God.
The connection between Faith and Prayer is that when we pray without faith, we are essentially doubting whether God hears us or cares to respond. But when we pray with faith, we come boldly before the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16), confident that our Father is listening and will answer according to His perfect will.
The doubting person is double minded because they want to trust God, but they're also calculating backup plans. They're praying for God's provision/protection while relying on their wisdom and personal abilities. In most cases like this, when their desires finally come, they would not know if it was God or just thier personal abilities.
