The Bible does not give a direct command either for or against cremation, but it consistently emphasizes that God is concerned with the soul rather than the physical state of the body after death. In Scripture, burial was the more common practice among God’s people, yet there is no clear teaching that cremation prevents one from being accepted by God. The body returns to dust in any case, whether through decay or fire, showing that human remains do not limit God’s power or purpose.
For dust you are, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19).
Regarding resurrection, the Bible strongly teaches that God has the power to raise the dead regardless of how the body was treated after death. The hope of resurrection is not dependent on the preservation of the physical body, but on God’s divine authority and promise. Even those whose bodies were lost, destroyed, or scattered will be raised by Him. Scripture assures us,
“The dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:52).
