Death, like a silent visitor at the door of every home, is part of the human story because sin entered the world and broke the perfect garden God first made. The Bible teaches that when Adam disobeyed God, sin spread through humanity like a crack in a mirror, and with it came death as its shadow. Human life, like morning dew resting gently on grass, does not last forever on earth because we are made from dust and will return to dust.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
Our bodies, like fragile clay pots carrying a precious treasure, grow weak and finally give way because this world is not our final home.
Yet death, though it looks like a dark tunnel, is not the end of the road for those who trust in God. Through Jesus Christ, death is like a defeated enemy whose sting has been removed by the power of the cross. Life on earth, like a short journey through a busy market, prepares us for eternity where God promises no more tears. For believers, the grave is like a doorway that opens into everlasting life, not a prison that locks them in forever. In this way, death becomes like the setting of the sun, which seems like an ending but is only the beginning of a new dawn with God.
