Overcoming drug addiction isn’t easy, but with God’s help, it’s possible. The Bible reminds us that we don’t have to rely on our own strength. In fact,
2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
This means that even when we feel at our lowest, God’s strength can lift us up. When someone struggling with addiction turns to God in honesty and prayer, He is ready to help and walk with them every step of the way.
Another important step in recovery is learning to change the way we think.
Romans 12:2 tells us, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Addictions often come from deep pain, negative thoughts, or habits we’ve picked up. But by reading the Bible, praying, and talking to trusted Christian counselors or mentors, we can start to heal those wounds and replace harmful thoughts with God's truth. God wants to give us a new mindset one that brings peace and strength.
No one should try to overcome addiction alone. The Bible encourages us in
James 5:16 to “confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”
That means being open with trusted people, asking for prayer, and leaning on a community of believers who care. Church groups, recovery ministries, and supportive friends can make a big difference. With God’s love, support from others, and a desire to change, anyone can break free from addiction and start a new life filled with hope.
