Many believers often ask the question, "How many times shall we study the Word of God?", and the straight answer I usually give is "as frequently as possible".
The bible is not a book that we read and we are done. It is a Word of life which addresses us in various ways throughout life. Just as food provides nourishment to our body on a daily basis, the Word of God provides nourishment to our spirit on a daily basis.
We could see in the Bible that Joshua 1:8 that we are to meditate on the Word of God in the day and in the night in order that we can prosper and succeed. This demonstrates that the study of the Word of God must be a regular practice and not a one time event. The deeper we read the bible, the more we realize the will of God, what he promises and what he expects us to do with our lives.
We usually say that "Practice makes permanent". Similarly, the consistent study of the Word enhances our faith, decisions, and fortifies us when we go through the ordeals. We do not read the Bible to turn the pages of our Bibles and say that "thank God, we have read it". We must read the Word of God on a daily basis, as long as we exist, as God can always teach us something new.
