The issue of being healthy is not just a physical issue but a spiritual issue as well. As it is taught in the Bible, our bodies are the temple of God and must be taken care of and used wisely.
There is a reminder in 1 Corinthians 6:19 20 that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. This implies that God cares about the way we eat, sleep, think and live.
Balance is the beginning of Biblical health, moderation in everything is stimulated by the Bible.
The book of Proverbs cautions us against indulgence, heroin, strong drinks or way of life and God also values rest.
In the book of Exodus, God gave His people the Sabbath and this is how we learn that we need to rest in order to renew and gain strength. Working the body to death results in fatigue and ill health.
Peace of mind also makes healthy living. Proverbs 17:22 states that a happy heart is a good medicine. Too much concern, worry ,resentment and hate may be harmful to the body whereas faith, gratitude and forgiveness will heal us.
Another effective health tool is prayer. By praying we give our burdens to God and get peace which elevates the heart and the body.
Being healthy biblically refers to taking care of the body, protecting the mind and taking care of the spirit. We have a more healthy and satisfying life when we live in the wisdom of God.
