The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is a story of hope, love and salvation. Before the birth of Jesus, the world was filled with sin, pain and darkness. God in His mercy, promised to send a Saviour who would rescue mankind from sin, that promise was fulfilled through the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.
According to the Bible, an angel appeared to a virgin named Mary and told her that she would give birth to a special child through the power of the Holy Spirit. Mary was surprised yet she humbly accepted the will of God. Her husband Joseph, also trusted God and protected Mary during that difficult time.
Jesus was not born in a rich palace or surrounded by luxury. He was born in a simple manger because there was no room for His parents in the inn. This humble beginning teaches Christians that greatness does not always come from wealth or earthly power even in poverty, God can bring forth glory.
On the night Jesus was born, angels appeared to shepherds in the field, announcing the good news of the Saviour’s birth. The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and worshipped the child. Wise men from the East also followed a bright star that led them to Jesus. They brought precious gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to honour Him.
The birth of Jesus Christ reminds us of God’s unconditional love for humanity. Through Jesus, people received hope, peace, forgiveness, and eternal life. His birth also teaches us humility, obedience and faith in God.
Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus during Christmas with joy, prayers, singing and sharing with others. Families come together to thank God for His blessings. Beyond the food and celebration, Christmas is a time to remember the true meaning of Christ’s birth which is the salvation of mankind.
