La semana pasada les comente la historia de Betania un lugar muy frecuentado por Jesús para descansar, compartir con sus discípulos y amigos. Hoy les traigo otra segunda parte de Betania conozcamos mas de lo que ocurría en Betania, espero que la disfruten.
Last week I told you the story of Bethany, a place frequented by Jesus to rest, share with his disciples and friends. Today I bring you another second part of Bethany, let's know more about what happened in Bethany, I hope you enjoy it.
• Betania: En hebreo significa "Casa de frutos". Lugar de descanso y rehabilitación en el sendero, "casa acogedora", aunque también "casa de aflicción" (en griego). Aldea que formaba parte del sitio conocido con el nombre de Monte de los Olivos.
Ahora seguimos viendo la historia de Maria, Marta y Lázaro, unos hermanos amados por Jesús
- Bethany: Hebrew for "House of fruit." Place of rest and rehabilitation on the path, "hospitable house," though also "house of affliction" (Greek). Village that was part of the site known as the Mount of Olives.
Now we continue to look at the story of Mary, Martha and Lazarus, siblings loved by Jesus.
En estos versículos podemos ver 2 tipos de personas:
- Marta: Ella corrió a Jesús y habló de lo que sabía, lo que creía de Él.
Solemos referirnos a esta mujer simplemente como alguien afanada pero no, a ella se le había revelado Quién es Jesús, conocía lo que Él podía hacer y confiaba en Él.
En este momento de gran dolor, corrió a Jesús para decirle: Creo en ti, creo que este dolor no será eterno porque mi hermano resucitará cuando Tú regreses, sé que eres Poderoso. (V.-27)
In these verses we can see 2 types of people:
- Martha: she ran to Jesus and spoke of what she knew, what she believed about Him.
We usually refer to this woman simply as someone who was troubled but no, to her it had been revealed who Jesus is, she knew what He could do and she trusted in Him.
In this moment of great pain, she ran to Jesus to tell Him: I believe in You, I believe that this pain will not last forever because my brother will rise when You return, I know that You are Mighty. (V.-27)
¿Qué hace Jesús? Afianza su fe y le da nuevas promesas para que en un futuro ella pueda no sólo estar firme y seguir creyendo.
What does Jesus do? He strengthens her faith and gives her new promises so that in the future she can not only stand firm and continue to believe.
- María: Al igual que su hermana, ella también corrió a Jesús pero antes de decirle algo ella se postró a Sus pies y fue desde allí que expuso lo que había en su corazón.
¿Qué hizo Jesús? Se conmovió y lloró con ella.
- Mary: Like her sister, she also ran to Jesus but before saying anything to Him she fell at His feet and it was from there that she exposed what was in her heart.
What did Jesus do? He was moved and wept with her.
• Tal vez nos identifiquemos con Marta o con María, pero todos pasamos por ambas actitudes y al igual que ellas, el Señor nos afianza y consuela.
- Perhaps we identify with Martha or Mary, but we all go through both attitudes and like them, the Lord strengthens and comforts us.
María movió el corazón de Jesús y Marta expuso al que Era, Es y Vendrá, también le hizo dar una de las más resonantes afirmaciones:
¿No te he dicho que si crees verás la gloria de Dios?
Mary moved Jesus' heart and Martha exposed the One who Was, Is and Is to Come, she also made Him give one of the most resounding affirmations:
_Did I not tell you that if you believe you will see the glory of God?
° Como María, a veces no tenemos palabras para orar o ir a Dios, sólo nos postramos a Sus pies, exponemos nuestro corazón y vemos lo tierno que es nuestro Amado.
° Como Marta, tenemos encuentros con Dios llenos de revelación de Su Palabra y Persona. Esos momentos que más adelante hacen que Él nos diga: ¿no te he dicho? Recuerda mis Palabras
° Like Mary, sometimes we have no words to pray or go to God, we just prostrate ourselves at His feet, expose our heart and see how tender our Beloved is.
° Like Martha, we have encounters with God full of revelation of His Word and Person. Those moments that later cause Him to say to us: Did I not tell you? Remember my Words
¿A cuál de las dos hermanas nos estamos pareciendo ahora mismo?
De ser sinceros en esto también dependerá la respuesta de Jesús a nuestra vida
Which of the two sisters are we resembling right now?
On being sincere in this will also depend Jesus' response to our life.
• Allí fueron dos tipos de personas pero un mismo Jesús que pudo consolar a ambas.
Hoy esas dos actitudes se manifiestan en nuestras vidas y Dios está a nuestro lado sin importar cuál seamos.
• Ya sea que vayamos a Su Palabra o nos postremos a Sus pies, estemos con Él en Betania.
- There were two types of people but one and the same Jesus who was able to console both.
Today those two attitudes are manifest in our lives and God is on our side no matter which one we are. - Whether we go to His Word or prostrate ourselves at His feet, let us be with Him in Bethany.
