God listens to those who call on Him. Those who indulge in idol worshipping distance themselves from God. God is not pleased with that. Part of the Lord's ten commandments is that we should have no other god except God in Heaven.
If we desire God to hear us then we must do away with every other thing. We cannot hold on to God and idols at the same time. It doesn't work like that. We are either for God or the devil, either for light of for darkness.
Joshua 24:15 (King James Version)
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
This was Joshua's statement. God can't have is shared with idols. There's standing in-between. It is a decision that we have to get straight. Worship to God and idols cannot be mixed up. Anyone who sincerely loves God wouldn't get involved in idol worshiping.
