Jesus is the best role model anyone can think of emulating. Even with His status as the Son of God He still brought Himself low even if it meant been looked down on by people He was far greater than. During Jesus's earlier years on earth He took on the occupation of a carpenter which was passed down unto Him by His earthly father.
This teaches us two things. First, it teaches us that Jesus wasn't an idle person. Even though He had all the power in the world to provide for Himself what He needed He still valued hard work. This gives us no reason for us not to get something doing with our hands no matter how small.
The second thing it teaches is that Jesus was not in a haste to start His earthly ministry. Even though He was made to perform great works here on earth He was still patient enough to wait for His right time. In our time today we live our lives like we are in competition with others. Jesus did not have this kind of attitude towards life.
He was willing and patient to wait for His time even though it meant Him starting off as a humble carpenter.
