Of course, as good soldiers of Christ, we are sometimes called to endure hardships. But even in the midst of pain and problems, God expects us to remain joyful—because our joy is rooted not in our circumstances but in our relationship with Jesus.
The bible said in psalms 100: 1 “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing… Enter into His gates with thanksgiving …”
It’s important to remember the distinction between happiness and joy. Happiness is based on external circumstances; joy flows from within and is anchored in our walk with God. That’s why even during trials or persecution, a believer can still overflow with the joy of the Lord. Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you… not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled… Let My perfect peace calms you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.” [John 14: 27 AMP].
In difficult times, don’t let challenges keep you from prayer, worship, and time in the Word. That’s where your strength comes from: “The joy of the Lord is your strength” [Nehemiah 8: 10]. The more challenges you face, the more you should draw near to God—because His joy will energize and sustain you.
The psalmist said: “I was glad when they said unto me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord’ …” [Psalms 122: 1 – 2]. Sadly, many approach church out of routine or even reluctance. But those who truly delight in gathering to worship God prepare with eagerness and expectation.
Scripture says: “Be delighted with the Lord. Then He will give you all your heart's desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him to help you do it, and He will. It’s a privilege to serve God—and when we do so with joy, we begin to see His goodness in our everyday lives
