The greatest person to aspire to be like is Jesus. Despite being the Son of God, He yet humbled Himself, even if it meant being despised by others. He was far superior. Jesus began working as a carpenter during his early earthly years, a profession that His earthly father had given him.
We learn two things from this. First of all, it shows us that Jesus wasn't a slacker. Despite having all the power in the world to meet His own needs, Hard effort was still important to him. This provides us no excuse not to accomplish anything with our hands, no matter how tiny.
The second lesson it imparts is that Jesus did not rush into beginning His earthly mission. He was patient enough to wait for the appropriate moment even though He was created to accomplish great things on earth.
Nowadays, we spend our lives as though we are in competition with one another. Jesus did not approach life in this manner. Even though it meant beginning as a lowly carpenter, He was ready and patient to wait for His time.
