There are things that make up a proper Christian, like not being bound by sin. As believers we are not supposed to live in sin or be bound by besetting sins. We also should have an unbroken fellowship with God. Fellowship talks about prayers and meditating on the word of God. Having an unbroken fellowship simply means always to be in touch with God through prayers and constant studying of the Word.
When we are done praying, we are meant to read the Bible. Giving is also part of the lifestyle that makes up for us being Christians. It is a lifestyle because it is not done once. Now this is the area where some people drag there feet and having different opinions on. Some people think that because they worked for the money by themselves only them are entitled to it. But the truth is that every money that comes our way wouldn't have gotten to us if it wasn't for God. Our work or effort are just the means God used in providing us with the money.
Giving is one of the tests of the believers spirituality. A believer that complains about giving is unaware of this revelation. When we have the lifestyle of giving, the wealth of the Gentiles come to us. Those who give are never on the losing side. People who giving are doing themselves a favor than those who are receiving.
2 Corinthians 9:6
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
For everytime we give, the principle of sowing is taking place and we must surely reap that which we sow. Apart from what we stand to gain when we give, it should be our concern to reach out to those we are privileged to be in a better position than.
