House of Prayer Jerusalem is a very profound and spiritual subject. Jerusalem is a special city of a chosen city of God. It was the location where the temple was constructed, and it was the center of Israelites worship. The house of God was the name of the temple since it was a sacred place where individuals could pray, make sacrifices, and get forgiveness. In Isaiah 56:7, the Lord declared; my house shall be a house of prayer to all the people. This demonstrates that the house of prayer was not the house of one country or the other, but all people who genuinely desire to serve God.
When I remember the House of Prayer in Jerusalem I do not consider it as a house. It is a sanctuary of pure worship. In chapter seven verse fourteen of the book of 2 Chronicles, the Bible writes, if my people, which are called by my name shall be humbled, and shall pray, then will I hear them out of heaven. This is what teaches me that when we pray humbly, God hears us. Where hearts are shattered before God and people seek Him with all sincerity is the true house of prayer.
Jesus also addressed the temple in the New Testament. In Matthew 21:13 He said, It is written My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Jesus was rebuking the people since they had converted a sacred site into business premises. I believe this reminds us that worship has to be pure and not fake.
There are many Houses of Prayer to-day besides the one in Jerusalem. In my opinion it is where the people of God meet in truth and spirit. More to the point, our hearts should become a house of prayer. God wants sincerity, obedience and love more than other things.
God bless his word
