Drug addiction is a severe issue which ruins lives of many. It impacts on the body, mind, and spirit. A number of individuals who get addicted experience feelings of being helpless and trapped. In my opinion, drug addiction can be overcome and it only takes a firm resolve, true repentance and belief in God. The first stage to be taken by a person is to acknowledge the fact that it is wrong and he has to make it personal to himself that he truly wants to change.
Praying to God is one of the significant actions in overcoming the addiction. God listens when an individual appeals to him/woman. According to 1 Corinthians 10: 13, the Bible states that God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you are capable of. This reminds me that there is no temptation so fierce that it can overcome the assistance of God even in the case of drugs. By prayer, we can build up strength in our hearts.
The other significant action is avoiding objects and individuals that push towards drug use. The individual finds it difficult to change unless he/she remains in the same environment in which there are drugs. In 1 Corinthians 15: 33, the Bible teaches that evil communications are corrupters of good manners. This implies that good behavior can be slowly ruined by bad influence. Unless a person is willing to quit addiction, he or she needs to select the right friends and the right environment.
I think good activities also help a lot in filling the life. Reading the bible, attending church meetings, serving other people and time with family members can provide an individual with a sense of purpose. In Philippians 4: 13, it states, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. This verse helps me to remember that it is possible to change with the assistance of Christ.
To sum it up, drug addiction is not something that can be easily overcome. Through the sincere repentance, praying, not having bad influences, and believing in God, one will be able to escape. I am absolutely convinced that, when he lowers himself to God and tries to find His guidance, a new and better life can start.
God bless his word
