The future is one of the subjects that many people wonder about. We always ask ourselves how tomorrow, next or many years will be. Others attempt to find out what will happen in the future by using horoscopes, fortune tellers and other manmade predictions.
However the Bible teaches that only God knows the future. The Lord declares to Isaiah of 46:10, saying, Declaring the end, the things not yet accomplished: The things of ancient times. This reminds us of the fact that God is the only one who has complete knowledge of what lies ahead of us.
As a Christian, I have come to realize that I never need to learn all about the future. What is more important is believing in One who already knows it.
There are bible warnings against relying on human methods of predicting the future. In the book of Deuteronomy 18: 10-12, God makes it very clear to His people that they are not to consult the diviners, the sorcerers, or the fortune tellers. His practices are not these.
The Bible teaches us to have faith in God and live His will today, as opposed to attempting to impose knowledge about the future. According to Proverbs 3: 5-6, you should trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding.
Give credit to him in every path of thy way: and he will guide thy ways. This verse makes me remember that when I trust God he would show me the way step by step.
The Bible also reveals that God may as well reveal future events through the word of God and through his prophets.
These revelations are not to fulfill curiosity but to make people repent so that they will be prepared spiritually. Indicatively, there are numerous prophecies in the Bible that address the topics of salvation, judgment, and the coming kingdom of God.
Ultimately, it is not most essential to know what is going to happen. It is not the knowing of God, not the obedience to His commandments, not the faithfulness to him, but knowing him, living righteously.
By being faithful to Him nowadays, I would have peace in my heart as I go on with the future, knowing that the plans of God are never bad.
God bless his word
Amen
