This is a profound question many individuals tend to ask; why is there evil in the world that much? All we have to do is look around and what we see is pain, war, hatred, injustice, sickness, and death. It seems that sometimes the evil is all around.
In my opinion, this question reaches the very core of the human existence and interaction with God.
The Bible helps teach that it is the evil that is not Godly. Initially, God made all that was good. And God observed all that He made and lo, it was very good (Genesis 1: 31). Sin resulted in evil filling the world through the disobedience of man.
Adam and Eve decided to disobey God and by his decision, sin and pain got into people life (Genesis 3:1-19). Since then, the character of man had been feeble and sinful.
The second cause of evil is the free will of human beings. God did not make human beings as robots. He gave us the option of either good or evil. Unfortunately, a great number of individuals prefer evil.
According to the Bible, there is none righteous, no, not one (Romans 3:10). Evil prospers in the world when individuals make decisions in favor of greed, pride, hatred and violence.
We are also informed by the bible that the devil contributes to the spread of evil.
The devil is a roaring lion and he walks around seeking whom he may destroy (1 Peter 5:8). He misleads and is driving them away out of the truth of God. Nevertheless, God does not forbid this in the short run, but He does not overlook human suffering.
In my opinion, God is permitting evil as people are able to learn, repent, and come back to Him. The Lord is not lax in His promise... but is patient to us, not desiring that any of us should perish (2 Peter 3:9). God is contented and provides all with the opportunity to decided in favor of good.
Finally, evil does exist due to sin, bad decisions and the devil. But the Bible gives us hope. Evil will be eradicated by God one day.
And God will be wiping the eyes of all the people (Revelation 21:4). Up to that point, I feel that we have to be good, truthful and serve God in good faith.
God bless his word
Amen
