Why am I here? is a question that many ask in this world. Sometimes people get empty, confused or lost due to their lack of understanding of the real purpose of their life. We are not an accidental creation, as Christians we are taught that we are created for a purpose. God made us for a purpose. Revelation 4:11: “For thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” That we are living according to God’s will, purpose and glory.
Our duty and ultimate purpose of our existence is to know God, serve Him, obey His commandments and live according to His righteousness. The whole duty of man is to fear God and keep his commandments. (Ecclesiastes 12:13) So many people invest their entire life in earning money, getting fame or enjoying the worldly pleasure but still they feel uncomfortable inside. I know that the only place where the peace can come is when the person starts to walk with God in sincerity.
At some time in my life, I was lost, didn't know what I wanted to do, didn't know what I was doing it for. I kept rating myself against others and regretting what I didn't accomplish. My heart was heavy and I felt emotionally exhausted almost every day. One day I was reading Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end," and I had great peace on my soul. That verse brought to mind that God has a plan for my life. I knew that my life doesn't mean nothing, and that God has value in me even when I don't know it.
This is our life too, which is supposed to be a blessing to others. Jesus taught us to love one another, to help the poor, to encourage the weak, and to be kind. Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Sometimes, one's life can be profoundly moved by a little love. God's desire is to be good to us and for us to be good to this dark world.
I now realize that living for myself is not enough to fill the soul! The real fulfillment is living for God. Life is tough, there's pain and there's uncertainty, but I know God created me for a purpose and I have the strength to keep on going. I want to be even closer to Him every day, and live towards Him. That is why we are here, I suppose, to bring good fortune. That is why I suppose we are here, to bring good fortune.
