Death is one of the most profound realities of life, and the Bible gives clear insights into why people die. According to the Scriptures, death entered the world as a consequence of sin.
Romans 5:12, it is written that “sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.”
This verse points to the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Their disobedience to God's command brought about spiritual separation from God and introduced physical death into human existence. From that moment, death became a part of the human condition, affecting all generations.
However, the Bible also offers hope in the face of death. It teaches that physical death is not the end for those who believe in God.
John 11:25, Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”
This shows that while death is a result of sin, God made a way for eternal life through Jesus Christ. For believers, death becomes a passage to be with God, rather than a final end. So, the Bible explains not just the cause of death, but also provides comfort and assurance that death does not have the final say.
