God, in His mercy, gives us early warnings so that we can be prepared for what lies ahead. These warnings are not meant to frighten us, but to guide us back to Him. As believers, we are called to fear God, honor Him, and live in obedience to His word. In times of war, famine, sickness, and widespread suffering, it is important to ask: what does the Bible instruct us to do?
There is a clear and consistent answer to the challenges facing humanity today. The problems we see are not limited to poorer nations alone; even wealthy countries like the United States and many parts of Europe are experiencing similar struggles. From global health crises to economic instability, the hardships affecting the world today point to a deeper issue—human disobedience and a growing disregard for God’s commandments.
These truths are not new. They were already declared in the Bible when God spoke to His people through Moses. In Deuteronomy 28:15, it is clearly stated that if people refuse to listen to the voice of the Lord and do not follow His commandments and statutes, then various consequences will come upon them. This passage serves as a warning that disobedience brings hardship.
Verse 16 emphasizes that such difficulties will affect every area of life, both in the city and in the field. Verse 18 further explains that even human productivity, agriculture, livestock, and daily sustenance will suffer as a result.
However, the message of the Bible is not only about warning but also about hope. Titus 1:2 reminds us of the promise of eternal life, given by God who never lies. This assurance encourages us to remain faithful, knowing that obedience to God leads not only to restoration but also to everlasting life.
