As overuse of current antibiotics reduces their effectiveness, development of new antibiotics becomes increasingly important. In a new report, researchers show that a newly discovered antibiotic is highly active against multidrug-resistant bacteria and was able to treat bloodstream infections in mice. While promising, more work is needed before it will be ready for clinical trials.
