It wasn't a good idea to turn on the news, but my son just knocked on my office door and asked me some questions about the Holy City in Jerusalem...
My heart sank.
So, I prayed.

My son prayed with me. We haven't done that since he was a child, over 30 years ago.
Spirit urged me to look deeper into my fear, and I began to write it down.
Then I did some more research.
Predictions about the “final battle” around Jerusalem have been made for nearly two thousand years. Many were tied to events like:
• Siege of Jerusalem
• The Crusades
• The Six-Days War
Each time, people believed they were witnessing The End Of The World. But each time, History kept moving.
Since I've been a minister, a coach and counselor, I've realized that human beings have a habit of assuming their worst moment represents the climax of their story. It's my job to remind them that a horrible episode is exactly that: A horrible episode.
Most of us make it through. We're not the same when we emerge on the other side of trauma, though. That's where the "hook" is for those who want to cash in on misery.
Human history is not a straight line toward doom. It’s more like a messy spiral staircase. We circle the same fears again and again; war, religion, power, territorial disputes, but each time the circle rises a little higher.
We are louder about our conflicts now because the world is so much more connected, even if the information can be as dirty as when the first printing press tried to influence us by motivating our anger and fear.
But we are also more aware of one another, more capable of cooperation, and more invested in survival together than any generation before us.
The prophets of catastrophe have always been confident.
The quiet evidence of progress has always been patient.
And patience — historically speaking — keeps winning. Humanity is slowly discovering something important: our problems have become planetary, so our solutions must be planetary too.
We're all in this together. Don't think for a moment that you aren't needed , or worse, not a part of what happens next. You are, and every prayer is heard. Every. Single. Prayer.
If you're not comfortable saying them, write them to me and I'll say them for you.
With love and blessings,
Rev. Sarah, The White Light Express
