"Be consistent" is advice that gets thrown around all the time, but has little effect.
'Cause there's usually an important part left out. 𝑾𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑶𝑵𝑳𝒀 𝑩𝑬 𝑪𝑶𝑵𝑺𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑵𝑻 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒘𝒆 𝑳𝑶𝑽𝑬.
Eating. Sleeping. Breathing. These things are pretty consistent for most people, and they ENJOY doing them.
If you're being inconsistent then maybe ask yourself...do I love this thing? If the answer is no, then that's why you can't bring yourself to be as consistent as those you look up to.
Serena Williams found she enjoyed tennis, did it consistently. Tarantino found he enjoyed making movies, did it consistently. I love helping people build their empires, so I do it consistently.
To build your empire, hopefully, you've been doing your thing consistently. But there are many less-enjoyable tasks that are essential for your brand to keep growing. So, what do you do?
You delegate those tasks to someone else who ENJOYS doing them consistently. Sounds simple. But what happens is you hire someone who'll "do the job" because they "wanna get paid"... NOT because they actually ENJOY the task. If not at the start, then by the end. Most brands when they get to a certain size STOP making sure their team ENJOYS their consistent tasks.
You want a video editor who LOVES editing. You want a cleaner who LOVES cleaning. They exist. They're out there. Don't just grab whoever's nearby and try to make them consistent.
Sadly, this concept gets lost.
Yes, you gotta be consistent. Your team's gotta be consistent. But that consistency has to be maintained. It needs to be paid attention to occasionally.
Have your teams stopped enjoying their tasks? Have you? Can you create a solution to fix it? Or will you just ignore it?
Consistency comes from a fine balance of continual enjoyment. You can do it, but only if you care enough.
