Me and my hair: Always changing.- Mi cabello y yo: Siempre cambiand...

Greetings to all members of this wonderful community. I am really thrilled I found this place to share my passion for hair and learn from other people's experiences.

This is my second post over here and this time I thought of participating on the "Hair History" initiative.

My hair is big part of the expression of my personality. It is in constant change and I'm happy I get to be creative and go wild with it.

So, without further ado, here I go!

Un saludo a todos los miembros de esta maravillosa comunidad. Estoy muy feliz de haber encontrado este lugar para compartir mi pasión por el cabello y aprender de las experiencias de todos.

Ésta es mi segunda publicación acá y en esta oportunidad pensé en participar en la iniciativa "Hair History".

Mi cabello es parte importante de la expresión de mi personalidad. Está en cambio constantemente y me alegra mucho tener la libertad de ser creativa y salvaje con el.

Así que sin más preámbulo, ¡Aquí voy!

1️⃣ What kind of hair do you have?

I have naturally jet black, very thick, straight hair. Now that it is really processed, it has a bit of a wave, which is nice because I like to have some texture specially with my current haircut, which is a shaggy mullet.

1️⃣¿Qué tipo de cabello tienes?

Mi cabello naturalmente es negro azabache, abundante y lacio. Ahora que está realmente procesado, tiene algo de ondulación, lo cual me agrada porque me gusta tener algo de textura especialmente con mi actual corte de cabello, que es un shaggy mullet.

2️⃣ Are you happy with your hairstyle? Yes? No? Tell us why.

I am totally happy with my style. From a very young age I have experimented with different lengths, styles and colors (I cannot really think of a color I haven't worn). A few months ago I tried to go the traditional route and dyed my hair copper... but couldn't take it, and ended up going back to madness.

2️⃣ ¿Estás feliz con tu estilo de cabello? ¿Si? ¿No? Dinos por qué.

Estoy muy feliz con mi estilo. Desde temprana edad he experimentado con diferentes largos, estilos y colores (no puedo pensar en un color que no haya usado). Hace algunos meses trate de ir por la ruta tradicional y teñí mi cabello en un tono cobrizo... pero no pude seguir, y termine volviendo a la locura.

3️⃣ What would you like to change about your hair and why?

Definitely it's length. I do like my haircut, but I'd really like to have longer hair. Since I bleach and dye so often, I have to get trims all the time and it doesn't really grow as fast as I'd like. One of the reasons why I thought of getting a "normal" color was to let it grow a while, I have been meaning to let it grow but I lack patience and end up dying and chopping again... so I might end up giving up on that and getting clip on hair extensions.

3️⃣ ¿Qué cambiarias de to cabello y por qué?

Definitivamente el largo. Me gusta mi corte de cabello, pero me gustaría tener el cabello más largo. Ya que lo decoloro y tiño tan seguido, debo despuntarlo con frecuencia y no crece tan rápido como me gustaría. Una de las razones por las que decidí teñirlo de un tono "normal" era por dejarlo crecer un tiempo, he querido dejarlo crecer pero no tengo la paciencia necesaria y siempre termino tiñendo y cortando nuevamente... así que quizá me rinda y opte por usar extensiones de clip.

4️⃣ Of the haircuts you've had, which one did you like the most?

Definitely my current haircut. I have gotten similar haircuts in the past and I love how low maintenance it is. I have had all lengths but this length is one I really enjoy for how versatile it is.

I was rocking a bob before this and was trying to get it to grow, but it was too boxy and since I have thick hair it was way too much, it looked heavy and weird. Then I saw many shaggy hair pictures and decided to go for it.

So I took my razor and did it myself, and I'm so glad I did. I love the retro feel it gives and I am still able to braid it or get pigtails. It is perfect for me.

4️⃣ De los cortes de cabello que has tenido, ¿Cuál te ha gustado más?

Definitivamente mi corte actual. He tenido cortes de cabello parecidos en el pasado y me gusta mucho que es de muy bajo mantenimiento. He tenido todos los largos, y este es mi favorito por lo versátil que es.

Anteriormente tenía un Bob y estaba intentando dejarlo crecer, pero era muy cuadrado y al tener cabello tan abundante era demasiado para mí, se veía muy pesado y extraño. Luego vi varias fotografías de cortes shaggy y me decidí por ello.

Así que tome mi navaja y lo hice yo misma, y me alegra mucho haberlo hecho. Me gusta la vibra retro que tiene y que aún puedo trenzarlo y recogerlo en coletas. Es perfecto para mí.

5️⃣ Did you live any peculiar experience with your hair that has marked you? If so, tell us your story.

Oh yes, I had neon pink hair and wanted to go platinum. So you might see what happened. One of my coworkers is a wonderful hairstylist and he told me about the risks. Anyway we decided to go for it in several sessions. But it was a mess.

My scalp was incredibly sore, the breakage was too much. My hair was falling off like crazy. I went from long hair to a bob. And even then the damage was insane and ended up with a pixie cut. I still looked cute, but it was definitely not what I wanted in the first place. I don't regret it but it was quite the rollercoaster for me.

5️⃣ ¿Has vivido alguna experiencia en particular con tu cabello que te haya marcado? Si es así, cuenta tu historia.

Oh sí, tuve el cabello rosa neón y quería un rubio platinado. Así que ya verás lo que sucedió. Uno de mis compañeros de trabajo es un estilista maravilloso y me advirtió los riesgos. De todas maneras decidimos hacerlo en varias sesiones. Pero fue un desastre.

Mi cuero cabelludo estaba adolorido, mi cabello muy partido. Se me caía el cabello como loco. Pasé de tener el cabello largo a tener un Bob. Y aún así el daño era terrible y terminé cortandolo todo. Seguía viéndome linda pero no era lo que quería. No me arrepiento de haberlo hecho pero fue definitivamente una montaña rusa para mí.
