I noticed that writing about the plants I have and talking photos of their blooms refreshes my memory. I would forget the names, how I got them or where. Not that it matters much. They are all still lovely. But it is helps me keep track a lot better.
This little one decided to bloom a couple of weeks ago and I know it did bloom before. Nice to see them do their thing year after year.
Sedeveria Letizia
It is miniature plant with a very compact rosette. In cold weather the leaves turn more red which looks amazing! now in the growing season they are more green. Also because I decided to shade mine a bit more. It does like to get some sun and as most sedum it is very tough little plant. As many say you can forget about them and they grow anyway.
This is a cross between Sedum cuspidatum and Echeveria setosa var. ciliata. And I wouldn't be myself if I didn't try to cross pollinate it again. I had Echeveria Agavoides blooming in the same time and tried to do little magic, but I don't think it worked. Not on the Echeveria anyway. The flowers on Letizia are still open so I will have to wait a little longer to see if the seed pods formed.
Or maybe I will try with another sedum..
Or maybe I should use cleaner forms to create a cross? Hmm.. I will try. It is fun to watch what grows from a seed. And they grow much faster than cacti!
Flowers are small, soft white and they really do last long! Last year when it bloomed I didn't really like them. They are just so plain. But this year I do enjoy looking at them. I think it's because there is more on bloom in the same time.
I still like the leaves more though. Very shiny, thick with red tips. With a bit more stress turning more red. Sweet little thing.
When I bought it 2 years ago it look like this:
May 2018
One mature rosette in a small pot.
Since then it managed to grow another two rosettes and last year it looked like that (you can also see the red colour more here):
March 2019
This year the two little ones are mature and ready to bloom. I can't say it is a super fast grower, but it is doing ok. It also got the main stem nice and long which I like. It will branch more and with more time it will create a nice little bush, like this one (internet image). Isn't it lovely?
