I always wanted one of those old lady gardens where there are weird stuff like broken plates and pretty glass with little gnomes and fairy statues. Plus I have an attachment disorder. Not the kind where I need a sexual partner, but the kind where I keep a broken stone pipe because it's "cool". I would like to thank for helping me out with advice: I'm still convinced the succulents I am growing are called "chickpeas" and it's a strange, mandala effect: But, I'm also a succulent noob. So, I probably just forgot the name. I've done a ton of research recently, mostly on growing by walls.
I'm curious what the general #gardening community feels about planting next to a building. From my research, the temperature is definitely hotter. But, not much if it's just a painted building wall. And, if its a East facing wall obviously it will be cooler during the evening when it's hottest. I believe that most popular succulents are heat tolerant. And most are frost tolerant too?! I'm confused. I think I just got confused from doing research, but I'm pretty sure most succulents can last harsh frosts.
But they can't last being dried up! A quick search however, says it's best not to water during winters.
Anyways, I did put some more succulents back outdoors. My first post is here - - > @ferngully/one-more-garden-for-the-road
Hen and Chick sounds like a British Breakfast option with eggs and toast.
I bought a big packet of organic succulents to overseed the yard with. [Stock photo below]
I have a couple of new spots in mind. Places where some succulents would clean things up.
Sometimes some plants and succulents can really tie things together and make trashy areas better.
Let's take a look at some of the succulent areas besides the front door.
First of all, there's this weird spot in the yard with sand where nothing grows.
It's like this weird spiritual deadland that's begging to be spruced up somehow.
This will be a major target in operation overseed. Sure, I will probably run these succulents over with a lawnmower [plant abuse], but I still feel like it's a perfect spot: And also next to the parking lot.
I would love for the Chick and Hens to slowly crawl around the pebbles and hillside by the parking.
