Art downtown across from the pier

After a walk around the pier downtown I crossed over the Street and walked a bit further and came across these two pieces I will share in this post, I am loving all the art and history in New Bedford on my walks, but as I prepare this a little frustrated as I cannot find any info on these two pieces yet, I will keep researching and if I find more info I will add it to this post but for now just sharing the photos.

Through a facebook group I was able to find this art is part of an initiative called the Seaport Art Walk
New Bedford’s annual Seaport Art Walk was founded in 2013 by artist Jessica Bregoli, and was the city’s first large format outdoor public art installation. Each summer, sculpture and murals are strategically placed along New Bedford’s working waterfront and Seaport Cultural District.

This piece is by Eric Lintala’s and is titled “Shackles Broken- Free at Last,” which, in part, derives its title from a famous Martin Luther King, Jr. speech.

New Bedford has really surprised me with all there is to see and explore here, far more than I expected and I am sure there is so much more to find, and I will continue exploring and snapping
