Babyback ribs with fries and buttered rice (my order)
Chicken salad (one of the dishes my friend ordered)
Hi hivers and fellow ReggaeJahmmers.
This Sunday I jammed to a different Sunday dinner beat. A friend invited me to her and her son’s birthday party. Her son recently turned three. The party was held at Outback Steakhouse in Osaka.
Though I lived in Osaka sixteen years ago, I hardly go there now and so it’s a bit more difficult for me to navigate the streets. On Sunday evenings, I usually just relax at home with the family so going there is like going on a big trip. It took me a bit out of my comfort zone but supporting my friend was worth getting out of the zone and out of my prefecture. While Osaka isn’t as busy as it is in Tokyo, it’s busier than my city. It took two train rides and a bit of a walk to get to the restaurant. One way, it should have taken me about one hour and fifteen minutes. Keep reading to see the reason it took more. 😅
Lost But Not Far Away
I got to the restaurant twenty minutes later than expected because I got a bit lost.
Osaka has a big underground system with many shops and restaurants. There are many ways to get to destinations using that system. I had walked underground to get to Outback and was carefully looking out for my exit number. I however got confused when the exit numbers I was seeing, were bigger than the number I was looking for. I was hesitant to turn back and decided that I would take the next exit I came upon. That I did and continued to use Google maps to find my way. The exit took me from underground and up to the streets. I started walking up the street before realizing I should have gone down and across the street. If this sounds confusing to you, that’s exactly how I felt after exiting…confused. With people passing up and down, me not knowing where exactly I was, me who gets lost even with a map…a lot was going on. Lol!
I “got” my bearing and felt good when I saw that I was just three minutes away. The only problem was that I was 3-minutes away for a long time.
I kept going in circles but still couldn’t find the restaurant. Realizing that I was now more than a few minutes late, I had to send a message to my friend. 😂I texted…
”Lost but not far away”
I wanted to text that I was three minutes away but I didn’t think it was a good idea since I had been three minutes away for such a long time.
I stopped by a convenience store and asked the clerk for some direction. It was only then that I realized that I was going in circles because Outback Steakhouse was underground. I entered the neighboring building, took the elevator down to the base floor, walked pass several cafes and restaurants, then smiled when I finally saw the sign, “Outback Steakhouse”. I finally made it.
Twelve people were at the party. I was the eighth to arrive (yes, I had to make a note of that especially since I had been circling around for the longest 3-minutes ever😂). Something made me feel good about not being the last to arrive. Three nationalities were represented at the party. There were Jamaicans, 🇯🇲 Filipinos 🇵🇭 and Japanese 🇯🇵. I knew five of the people that were there. We had a good time. Bread was served for all at the tables. Most people ordered babyback ribs.It was really tender and delicious and served with fries and or some delicious and flavorful buttered rice. Some people ordered salads. My friend and her son were served ice-cream for their birthdays.

I wanted to get more shots of the decor but it was difficult to do so without infringing on others’ space and privacy. I did get a shot of the crocodile though it had some baby strollers in front of it. Now, had that alligator or crocodile you saw in the above photos moved, I’d have run out of the restaurant much faster than I came. Well… I almost forgot that I was late. 😆
How did you spend your Sunday evening?
How do you usually spend your Sundays?
Thanks for reading my post. Have a great week. 😃🎶
