Its been a tricky year, to say the least. And most of us, even me, tend to focus on the bad things that the year included. The bad vibes. But there's been enough of that going around, as we've all probably cursed the misfortunes of 2020 into the ground.
So let's focus on the positive things the past year have brought us. Well, the positive things it has brought me personally I mean.
The first thing that changed for me was being able to, and in fact having to, work from home. Working remotely has become the norm for many, instead of being viewed as a privilege of a modern organization. This brought two main benefits with it. All the housework I was postponing or delegating to weekends could be done at any time I wanted, because planning my hours per day became much easier. It also didn't hurt that I didn't have to commute to and from work each day, saving me about 2 hours effectively, and a lot of traffic stress.
A second thing is that I am closer than ever to finishing my Bachelor Study. In fact, I wanted to finish in December, but that kind of didn't work out completely. But I would never have thought I would come so far a few years back when I was ready to give up on my academic journey. It showed me the growth I had gone through and the obstacles I have overcome on the way.
Living in quarantine means being stuck with your housemates 24/7. This can either make or break relationships. After many trials and tribulations of tolerating each other, it has definitely strengthened the bond between me and , who has grown quite a lot in her own way. Well, not in the literal sense of course..
With everything that has happened and all the limitations that came with the circumstances I have also learned to appreciate life itself, the freedom to do whatever whenever. I know now not to procrastinate or wait too much and just LIVE. Every chance I get will be used.
The year 2020 has also strengthened my financial mindset. I am more focused now on what to invest in and what not to. I also have a different view on which luxuries are worthwhile and which are less worthwhile. For example, we didn't buy any fireworks to make them go up in smoke in an instant. Instead we decided to create our own tradition of "fine" home dining on steak and champagne, as the picture portrays.
One of the most positive impacts for me was discovering the decentralized social media sleeping giant that is Hive. Less because of the financial earnings, but more importantly because of the amazing people I met here and get to interact with on a daily basis, without censorship or an overflow of toxicity, as it is in traditional social media. The communities here all have their own way of maintaining and spreading positive vibes.
So in the spirit of spreading positive IRIE vibes to you and you loved ones, I turn to this musical classic tune by the Skatalites.
